Submitting expenses to the Finance department is a routine practice in organizations. The process mainly involves 2 steps:
• Employee submitting supporting documents as proof of expense.
• Finance department looks through files manually to verify total amount expensed by
the employee.
Manual verification is time-consuming and prone to human error. This is why we have built a receipt processing app to automate the receipt submission process.
By using optical character recognition (OCR), we can create models to detect receipt totals in submitted images and compare them with the total value entered by the employee. This speeds up the whole process as Finance no longer has to look through every single document to validate an expense. This capability can be served by utilizing a Power App which can be used by company employees to submit their expenses from their mobile phone.
